Touching story of integration and an insightful teacher aide

Middle years Halloween dances are loud, energetic, and smelly. Almost every student is there, dancing and shouting conversations over the thump thump of the music. Near the back of the room a teacher aid moves in front of a severely disabled student: blind and restricted to a wheelchair. She holds the arms of the chair and dances, moving the student's chair to the beat.

Kids gather around and dance in a circle showing off their fancy dance moves for the student. The TA approaches the group of dancers saying, quietly, "you know she can't see you dancing. She's blind."
They nod in understanding slowing their movements.
The TA says, "Why don't you sing to her while you dance."
With wide eyes and enormous smiles the kids resumed dancing for themselves, and singing for their classroom friend.
